Brent Montgomery - Metal Guy!
LOCKED AND LOADED!
|
My love affair with Nevada mining towns started early in life. I
traveled with my dad (a contractor) on trips to rural Nevada to bid school and water treatment plant jobs. Walking the boardwalks of Austin and Goldfield, Nevada I would peer thru the windows of the abandoned stores and saloons entranced by items left behind. Years went by and I never lost my love of Nevada. Finally in 1994 I decided to buy a metal detector and start looking for gold. After a year of finding nothing, I traded in the gold machine for a White’s XLT and started hunting for coins and rings in parks and school grounds. After a few years of coin shooting I became friends with a few other metal detector people who would find old stuff in ghost towns. The ghost town bug bid bad. Finding relics of long forgotten towns became by passion. While I enjoy finds bottles, coins, and artifacts, the number one thing I like to find are trade tokens. Some of these tokens are the last piece of history showing that this town actually existed. I have also had the fortune of being able to detect a”bluecoats of the west” military fort for the past 15 years. It is one of the few left still on private ground. The artifacts recovered from the fort are the same items used in the Civil War and brought west by the army protecting settlement of the west. I look forward to sharing some of my past and future adventures with you. Contact Brent |
