The Salt Lake Lot

With Downtown mostly built over, it's hard to find one of the earlier locations in Salt Lake.   We rely on contsruction to unearth the hidden pits.
It's hard to get permission and even more difficult to get there first.  This was our lucky day.   They had scraped almost 6 feet of the top and the pits were just starting to show in the rear of the lot.  Eric and Ivan got permission from the contstruction company.  There were 2 pits there.  One late 1860's and another in the 80's.  The first pit had fancy china and glass, withexpensive bottles.  The later pit showed mostly medicines and drugstores.  Life had taken it's toll.  But for us, it was an amazing stash of great stuff.  It was fun to watch them get dirty!

The large blue drugstore was from Salt Lake and had never been seen in that size before.  There were 2 pontiled puffs.  (you don't find pontilled in Utah.) There were a number of amber Salt Lake Drugs and two nice sodas.   Then a box of wonderful old glass.
